ULAS HiPR

L1 Rocket Workshops

28/10/2025

Over the first half of the semester, close to 60 ULAS HiPR members began designing and building their own high-powered rockets.

Each L1 vehicle starts in OpenRocket before being built from laser-cut plywood and shipping tubes. The next stage is to install the flight hardware and prepare the rockets for launch.

A successful flight will earn each participant a Tripoli Level 1 certification, allowing them to buy and launch H- and I-class motors. The workshops are also teaching new members about rocket structures, flight forces and launch operations before they move into the team's larger projects and competitions.
