Lúin of Celtchar Arrives
24/05/2026
ULAS HiPR has received the Republic of Ireland's first additively manufactured rocket engine.
Lúin of Celtchar was printed by Irish Manufacturing Research for the team's entry into the Race 2 Space competition in July. The 2 kN, water-cooled engine marks the first time additive manufacturing has been used to produce a rocket engine in Ireland.
The components will now be machined and finished at the University of Limerick's Faculty of Science and Engineering before integration and competition testing.
Thank you to FactoryXChange 2.0 and lead partner Irish Manufacturing Research for manufacturing the engine and supporting the next stage of student propulsion development in Ireland.
